It’s slow and doesn’t have so much special summon spam. Goat format exist since 2005 and ironically is very similar to hearthstone. Compare an altergeist mirror match and a control warrior mirror match for example.Ĥ- I don’t know which “slow” mode you are refering to on yugioh since there is more than one. Now, let’s try fit those 3 arguments on a hearthstone match:ġ- Hearthstone games last at least 6-10 turns on general, even the most agressive type of deck can’t kill you on turn 1 or 2.Ģ- Every card on hearthstone have a mana cost, making the game more balanced because you can’t just spam a bunch of good cards on a single turn.ģ- Control, combo and midrange mirror matches are way longer on hearthstone than on yugioh. Still, even with hand traps at players disposal, there is still ways to stop them, called by the grave is a good example of this.Ģ- Yugioh has no limit of cards you can play at each turn, so it make easier to spam a bunch of special summons and end up with a board of multiple negations on turn 1.ģ- Even in control mirror matches the games are short in yugioh. Combo decks have insane turn 1 if they don’t get stopped by a hand trap at the exact moment to break their start so they don’t finish the combo with 5+ negates. When a card leaves the field, is returned to the Main Deck, or is detached, it is moved to the owner's hand, Main Deck, Extra Deck or Banished Zone (depending on where the card would be sent), regardless of controller. In my opinion you are wrong and here are my reasons:ġ- Yugioh is a game so fast that you may lose on turn 1 or 2. If a control of a monster in an Extra Monster Zone changes to the other player, it will go to the new controller's Main Monster Zone instead. A monster Special Summoned from the opponent's hand, Deck, Graveyard, or Banished Zone such as by the effects of " Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World", " Conscription", " Goyo Guardian" and " Leviair the Sea Dragon", respectively is not considered to change control. Monsters that cannot change control cannot be equipped to monster in a way that would change their controller.Ĭhanging control only takes place when the monster is on the field. For example, if " Relinquished" takes control of an opposing " Ryu-Kishin", it is placed in the Spell & Trap Card Zone of the controller of "Relinquished". If a monster is treated as an Equip Card, it is moved to the Spell & Trap Card Zone of the player who controls the effect that caused it to be treated as one, and thus that player becomes its controller. Some monsters, such as " Mataza the Zapper" and " Blindly Loyal Goblin", cannot change control. The player who activated the card effect to change control will choose the appropriate Zone the card would be placed on. When a monster switches control, it is placed on the new controller's side of the field. Players can only change the battle position of monsters they control (except by effects), and can only activate the effects of monsters they control.īy default, cards remain under the control of their owners, but several cards can change control of cards, such as " Change of Heart", " Brain Control", " Mind Control", "" Creature Swap" and " Enemy Controller". Players can only attack using monsters they control, and can only target monsters their opponent controls for an attack (or attack directly). Unless otherwise specified, players can only use monsters they control as Tributes, Synchro Materials or Xyz Materials. Only a card's controller can look at it while it is face-down. The card's controller is distinct from its owner. Control (Japanese: コントロール kontorōru) refers to the side of the field a card is on.
